Junior pickleball coaching in Singapore.
Structured coaching for school-age players, from a coach who has spent three decades developing juniors in racquet sports and who certifies the coaches teaching this sport in Singapore.
A child can rally in week one. That is the whole point.
Most racquet sports make a child fail for months before they can play a point. The court is too big, the racquet is too heavy, and the ball is gone before they have moved. Pickleball removes all three problems at once: a small court, a light paddle, and a ball that travels slowly enough to be read.
What that buys is the thing junior coaching usually struggles for — a child who is willing to keep turning up. From there the actual teaching can begin.
What a session looks like.
Sessions are built around what a child can actually hold, reach and concentrate on, rather than a scaled-down adult lesson.
Coordination first. Paddle control, tracking the ball, one clean contact at a time, and enough games that it never stops being play. Technical vocabulary stays minimal.
Real technique. Grip, contact point, the dink and the drop, and the first tactical idea — that the kitchen line is where points are won. Rallies get long enough to be satisfying.
Competitive structure. Third-shot decision-making, transition-zone movement, doubles patterns and matchplay, for players who want to enter tournaments.
The questions parents actually ask.
Bring nothing the first time
Paddles and balls are provided for a first session. If your child continues, you will be told what to buy and what not to — a junior does not need an expensive paddle, and the wrong weight does real harm to a developing technique.
Start with one session
Book a single ad hoc hour before committing to a package. It is the honest way to find out whether your child takes to it, and it costs you one hour rather than ten.
If they already play tennis or badminton
It helps, and it also creates specific faults — a long swing, standing too deep. Coach Gary coaches tennis at Raffles Girls’ School and St Joseph’s Institution, so these are corrections he makes constantly rather than guesses at.
Small groups work well
Two to four children of similar standard is often better than one-to-one at this age: more rest between efforts, more live ball, and a reason to come back. Ask about group rates.
Outdoor coaching packages.
These are the TAG International outdoor rates for private coaching, and they apply to juniors as they do to adults. Junior group and holiday-clinic rates are quoted on enquiry.
A single session. The right way to find out whether your child enjoys it.
Long enough to build a reliable contact point and a dink your child can repeat.
A full season of regular coaching with room for matchplay.

Frequently asked.
What age can a child start?
Around seven is a sensible floor. Younger children can hold a paddle, but the session becomes supervised play rather than coaching, and you will get better value waiting a year.
Is pickleball safe for children?
It is low-impact by the standards of racquet sports. The court is small, so there is far less sprinting and fewer of the overhead loads that cause shoulder problems in young tennis and badminton players.
Can my child train with a sibling or friend?
Yes, and at this age it often works better than one-to-one. Message +65 8962 8400 for small-group rates.
Are there junior competitions in Singapore?
The junior competitive calendar is still young here, which is an advantage for a child starting now. Coach Gary will tell you honestly when your child is ready to enter something.
Can you run a programme for our school?
Yes. Coach Gary coaches school tennis at Raffles Girls’ School and St Joseph’s Institution and can build a pickleball programme for a school or CCA. Enquire on +65 8962 8400.
Where do junior sessions take place?
Across The PickleChoo Collection’s outdoor venues — PickleChoo Arena at One-North, PickleChoo Prime on New Industrial Road, and PickleChoo Apex at Henderson.
