Pickleball Coaching Venues in Singapore

Coach Gary coaches across The PickleChoo Collection’s three dedicated rooftop pickleball venues — Arena at One-North, Prime on New Industrial Road, and Apex at Henderson.

Choosing a venue

All three are dedicated courts, not converted ones.

That matters more than it sounds. A great deal of pickleball in Singapore is played on badminton halls with tape on the floor or on tennis courts with portable nets, where the lines are ambiguous, the net height is approximate and the run-off behind the baseline is wrong.

These are purpose-built rooftop pickleball courts, which means correct dimensions, correct net height and a surface designed for the sport. For a beginner it removes a layer of confusion. For anyone training seriously it means what you practise transfers to what you will meet in competition.

All three are rooftop courts, open to the air, and all three run daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, including public holidays. Court booking and venue enquiries go through picklechoo.com; coaching enquiries come to me.

The venues

Three courts, three different sessions.

One-North

PickleChoo Arena

Rooftop, 11 Slim Barracks Rise, Singapore S138664
Open daily, 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Rooftop, premium non-slip surface

The One-North location makes this the most convenient of the three for anyone working in the research and business park around it, and it takes the bulk of my early-morning and after-work private sessions. It is also where most corporate and team bookings end up, for the same reason.

New Industrial Road

PickleChoo Prime

Rooftop, Primax Building, 22 New Industrial Road, Singapore S536208
Open daily, 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Rooftop, non-slip surface

The quietest of the three, which makes it my preference for technical work. If someone is rebuilding a third shot or a serve and needs repetition without an audience or a queue for the court, this is usually where I will suggest we do it.

Henderson

PickleChoo Apex

Rooftop, Apex @ Henderson, 201 Henderson Road, Singapore S159545
Open daily, 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Rooftop, best-in-class court surface

The newest of the three, and the best playing surface of the group. Like all three it is a rooftop court, so air movement is part of the bargain — welcome in the afternoon, and something to account for if you are working on a soft game, because a light crosswind will punish a floaty drop.

Playing on a rooftop in Singapore

Pick your hour, not your luck.

All three courts are rooftop and open to the air, so the practical question is when rather than whether.

The two windows that work consistently are early morning and evening. From roughly 6:00 AM the air is still cool and the court is empty, which is why most of my committed players train then. From late afternoon onward the heat drops off and the courts stay open until 10:00 PM.

Midday sessions are possible and some people prefer them for the quiet, but for anything longer than an hour of technical work I would steer you to one of the other windows. Heat degrades technique before it degrades enthusiasm, and a session where the last twenty minutes are spent tired is a session where you practise your errors.

On rain: the venues handle wet-weather policy and rebooking, so that is a PickleChoo question rather than a coaching one.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Which venue should I choose?

For convenience, the one nearest you or your office. If you have a specific technical goal and want a quieter court, Prime on New Industrial Road. For corporate and group sessions, Arena at One-North. Message +65 8962 8400 and I will tell you which fits what you want to work on.

Do I need to book the court myself?

No. Court booking is arranged as part of the session. If you would rather book your own court, that runs through picklechoo.com.

Are the courts indoors or air-conditioned?

No. All three are rooftop courts, open to the air. Early morning and evening are the comfortable windows, and all three are open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.

Do I need my own paddle?

Not for a first session. Paddles are provided so you can try the sport before buying anything, which is also the best way to work out what paddle suits you. There is more on that in choosing a paddle.

Can you coach at a venue not on this list?

Sometimes, for group and corporate bookings or at a condominium court. Ask on +65 8962 8400 and I will tell you whether it works.

What does coaching cost?

Outdoor sessions are $135 per hour ad hoc, with package rates down to $115 per hour. Group, junior, corporate and certification rates on enquiry. Full rates are on the main coaching page.
